Airfibre joins Ireland’s INEX.
Airfibre’s Internet Neutral Exchange connection goes live
In keeping with its investment in its core network capability to accommodate its rapidly expanding customer base, Airfibre has joined INEX to ensure optimum performance for corporate users whose Internet traffic does not need to traverse the World Wide Web.
In addition to shortening paths to other Irish Telcos and Internet Service Providers, peering through INEX affords Airfibre customers improved connectivity with major social media and high profile members of the global Internet community such a Amazon, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Netflix, Yahoo, etc.
Commenting on the INEX inter-connect, Dave Graham, Technical Director said, “owning and controlling its core network, Airfibre arguably has the shortest path to Tier 1 lay off to the Internet of any major ISP in Ireland, but I was not satisfied that we were optimizing connectivity in light of changing usage of the Internet by businesses in Ireland. I am also acutely aware the growing list of major hotels and golf resorts to which we are now delivering 100Mbps+ circuits, that we need to better accommodate access to social media services”.
INEX now provides additional resilience in the Airfibre core, which already has separate resilient International egress interconnects to disparate Tier 1 providers.

With presence throughout County Dublin, Kildare and Cork, Airfibre was the first Irish Internet Service Provider to focus exclusively on the Business-to-Business market in the belief that it is not possible to provide an adequate level of support services to corporate users whilst developing a critical mass domestic market.
The Company operates its services to an industry leading 99.95% Service Level Agreement with a commitment to fix any problems within four-hours of their occurring: indeed, Airfibre prides itself upon, and has received recognition from customers for alerting end users to potential problems (such as, for example, power cuts) before the customers were aware of any issues.
Working in partnership with International Internet Transit Providers and INEX, Airfibre provides a ubiquitous gateway to other networks, ISPs and the Internet. Moreover, the Company has the ability to integrate circuits throughout the UK into homogeneous private networks for customers that have offices in both Ireland and the UK.
Airfibre competes head on with legacy network operators including eir and BT and is enjoying progressive year-on-year expansion.
